The Los Angeles Chargers came into the 2023 season with high expectations after inking their franchise quarterback Justin Herbert to a lucrative five-year, $262.5 million contract that made him one of the highest-paid players in NFL history.

Unfortunately for Herbert and the Chargers, things haven’t gone as planned through the first six weeks of the season and the team is off to a 2-4 start. Despite the slow start to the season, Justin Herbert sees no reason to panic and is confident his team can turn it around quickly.

“It hasn’t gone our way the past couple of games, but no one’s going to panic, no one’s going to quit…” Herbert stated to the media in his postgame comments. “I know we’re going to attack practice this week the same way we have each of the past weeks,” Herbert added.

The Chargers were just defeated 31-17 by their divisional rival Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 and Herbert had a less than spectacular performance. He completed 17 of his 30 pass attempts for 259 yards, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions.

After seven weeks, the Chargers are in third place in the AFC West, trailing the first-place Chiefs by four games in the win column. Herbert and the Chargers will have an opportunity to right the ship in Week 8 when they return home to face the 2-5 Chicago Bears.

The Bears could be without their starting quarterback, Justin Fields, for a second consecutive game in Week 8. Fields dislocated his thumb in his right hand in Week 6 and is expected to miss “multiple weeks” due to the injury per CBS’ Jonathan Jones.
