Since then, he’s been continually trash-talking the Lakers all offseason long, he said on the SiriusXM NBA,
“They’re my brothers still. But we had to give them that butt whipping. It was personal, but it wasn’t personal. We did something that hasn’t been done in a long time, as far as the Lakers getting swept. And for us making history, making the Finals for the first time.”

KCP also shared on going through the tightly contested playoff series last season where he had faced his former Lakers teammates on their path to the conference finals.
He said,
“Last year, I think it was the series before the Western Conference Finals. I had reached out to them, like, Hey man, I’ve been watching y’all, you’re doing great, keep it up such and such, he recalled. But then it was can’t wait to see y’all in the Western Conference Finals. It was like We ready.”
He had won a ring with the Lakers back in 2020 and last season KCP had contributed the Buggests to win theirs in last season.
Throughout the offseason, he has continued roasting his former teammates and ahead of the 2023-24 season, he emphasizes the Lakers need the sort of defeat like last year.
