The Bears are back to winning ways and for some players just in the nick of time, with the October trade deadline looming.
The Bears dominated the Raiders 30-12 to go 2-5 for the season.
If they can win against the Chargers this weekend, the trade fallout may not be as severe as forecasted.
One player who believes he did enough in the game ahead of the Halloween trade deadline is Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who returned an interception for a touchdown.
Talking after the win and before the deadline he said, “We’ll see kind of where things go, especially in this next week . . . just before the trade deadline. You never know what can happen beforehand, but just looking forward to seeing where things go.
“Because I mean, to me, it’s different and just talking and really just, ‘OK, well, let’s try to figure something out, let’s try to figure something out’ versus things getting done. So, I’m just looking forward to seeing what actually gets done.”
He celebrated his touchdown by throwing imaginary dollar bills, and asked if that was in reference to signing a new contract said, “damn right” when asked if the celebration was deliberate.
With the Vikings sitting in second place in the NFC North, and only one win better than Chicago the Bears could be outside contenders for a playoff spot.
