Chris Russo, a well-known radio host, recently found himself in a sticky situation after making a bold retirement promise if the Diamondbacks were to win their NLCS game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
To everyone’s surprise, the Diamondbacks managed to turn the tables and took home the victory, which left Russo facing a potential retirement he didn’t actually want.
Russo initially made the retirement promise in an attempt to highlight his doubts about the Diamondbacks’ chances of success.
However, once the team forced a Game 7, Russo found himself standing firm on his wager claiming, “I stand by my promise.”
Little did he know that the Diamondbacks themselves would take notice and elevate the situation further by acknowledging his promise.
As a result, social media platforms were abuzz with chatter about Russo’s potential retirement.
Amidst the frenzy, Russo appeared on The Howard Stern Show, seeking a way out of retirement.
“Mad Dog lost his mind,” Stern said. “I’m a radio guy, and so is Mad Dog and I know when you’re on the air sometimes, you want to please people and make things fun and interesting, but he f***ing went over the line because he was trying to make things fun and interesting.”

While Russo planned to invite Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo onto his show to apologize, Stern deemed this approach as too contrived and proposed a more outrageous alternative.
Stern suggested that Russo wear a Diamondbacks branded bikini and walk down a Manhattan street holding a sign that says, “I’m a liar and a dope.” This bizarre idea was meant to overshadow Russo’s previous retirement promise and serve as a response that would garner attention and amusement.
“You gotta do something so outrageous that they forget about the fact that you said you were gonna retire over a baseball game,” Stern said, initially proposing a couple of ideas that weren’t family friendly enough for Russo to consider. “What were you thinking though, saying you’re gonna retire if the Diamondbacks win, that’s crazy!”
“How bout this,” Stern continued. “You come on my show, I’ll come into Manhattan for this, we put you in a bikini and you walk down the street with a sign that says, ‘I’m a d****e.’ If you do that…it will make all the media and everyone say, ‘Wow, this guy was standup, he took it, obviously he couldn’t retire, but he was humiliated.’”
Surprisingly, Russo agreed to Stern’s proposal, choosing not to opt-out of retirement rather, he will face the embarrassment and humiliation of wearing a bikini and walking down a city block.
