On Thursday"s edition of "The Carton Show" MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred shared about the sport"s rule debut of the pitch clock and the 2023 World Series

As per the baseball"s new rules on defensive shifts, it will require two infielders to be on each side of the second base bag.

With the pitch clock debut, the pitcher will now have around 20 seconds between pitches to begin his motion. It will now require the hitter to be in the batter"s box with at least eight seconds remaining on the pitch clock.

Commissioner Manfred appeared on the show and said,

"This was a fan-driven initiative, and our research shows fans love the rule changes. The games are shorter; there"s more action in the game; there"s more athleticism, defense, base stealing, things that fans want to see. So, from that perspective, we see it as a huge success. The best thing about it [was] fans voted with their feet."

According to ESPN"s Jeff Passan, he considered it as ideal since it consistently clocked in at under 2 hours, and 30 minutes in minor league where it was tested.

In the 2021 regular season, the duration of an MLB game was 3 hours and 10 minutes, a number of fans demanded to be shorter.

Manfred claimed the MLB Rule Changes are about giving the fans of the game exactly the kind of game they want to see and demand.

As reported, following the league"s rule changes, the MLB Commissioner projects the fan"s attendance this season to rise up to 500,000 from pre-pandemic levels.
