“We’re just bouncing back and forth. So I’ve just been in the hotel” – Rangers postseason hero Evan Carter talks about unconventional living arrangement as he looks ahead to World Series Game 1

Game 1 of the 2023 World Series begins tonight when the Texas Rangers host the Arizona Diamondbacks in one of the more unconventional matchups in recent memory. However, the clash between these two may not be the most unconventional part of this World Series.

Leftfielder and rookie Evan Carter has been living in a hotel across the street from the Rangers ballpark ever since the team decided to call him up on Sept. 8. While he has been a huge part of the Rangers’ postseason run, he’s yet to find a home in Texas.

Carter was a second-round pick out of the 2020 MLB Draft and has seen a meteoric rise to stardom since the Rangers called him up in September. He’s solidified himself as not only a key part of the Rangers future but their current success.

Through 39 at-bats, Carter has a .308 batting average to go with one home run, five runs batted in, and eight runs scored, in addition to stealing three bases.

It’s been a long journey for Carter filled with plenty of travel and sleeping out of hotels throughout his journey to being called up to the major league roster.

“Gosh, I’ve been on the road, living out of the hotel since August 22nd… I don’t have a house. I don’t even know where I’m going to live this offseason. We’re just kind of going with the flow right now,” Carter said.

It’s clear Carter is trying to live in the present and relish the moment. Getting to the World Series is no easy feat to accomplish and he will have time to focus on his future home once the season is over. For now, he’s giving all his energy/attention to trying to help his team win.
