“Did he catch it from his wife?” – Skip Bayless points fingers at Brittany Mahomes’ diarrhea scare for Patrick Mahomes’ poor performance against Broncos

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes experienced flu-like symptoms before his game against the Denver Broncos on October 29, 2023.

Mahomes received IV fluid treatments on both Saturday and Sunday while also grappling with a high fever.

Despite these health setbacks, the Chiefs decided that Mahomes would still take the field against the Broncos, a decision that ultimately led to a 24-9 loss.

In wake of the Chiefs’ loss to Broncos, sports commentator Bayless has now set his sights on an unusual theory surrounding Mahomes’ ailment, pointing a finger at the diarrhea scare which Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, and their children dealt with four days ago.

“Kansas City just hasn’t looked right all year,” Bayless asserted. “They degenerate into Mahomes running around trying to find 87. I never know what to do with it did he have the stomach flu? Yes, he did. Did he catch it from his wife and two kids? I’m sure he did. Does he deserve a pass for yesterday? Because he wasn’t throwing the kind of passes he usually throws? I don’t know… But the big picture is that they just haven’t looked right all year.”

On October 26, Brittany Mahomes took to Instagram to share her battle with a stomach bug, an ailment that initially struck her son, Bronze, before affecting their daughter, Sterling Skye.

Both children endured several hours of distress, primarily experiencing diarrhea, with lingering effects even after they began to recover.

Eventually, it affected her as well.

Contrary to Skip Bayless, Patrick Mahomes took a different stance, refusing to blame his flu-like illness.

Instead, he pointed directly at the Chiefs’ inability to execute effectively on the field and credited the Broncos’ formidable defense for limiting him to a subpar 59.2 passer rating, the second-worst in his 87 NFL starts.

The Chiefs’ struggles against Denver extended into the red zone, where they went 1-for-8 over two games this season.
