After leading the Milwaukee Bucks to victory with a stellar performance in his first game as a member of the team, Damian Lillard didn’t find the same success in his second outing against the Atlanta Hawks.
Lillard made just two of his 12 shot attempts on Sunday against the Hawks in the Bucks’ 127-110 loss at home, totaling six points. He boasted a negative assist-to-turnover ratio (five assists to six turnovers) and recorded a -29 plus/minus for the game.
In other words, it was a very disappointing performance after the way he performed in his Bucks debut when he scored 39 points and willed the Bucks to victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
It took Lillard until late in the third quarter to score his first points of the evening and NBA fans were quick to point that out and roast him for it on X (also known as Twitter).
An individual who goes by the username "wembycore" posted a photo of former Bucks guard/forward Tony Snell’s stat line on February 24, 2017, when he infamously recorded zero points, rebounds, assists, steals, and/or blocks in 28 minutes of gameplay and captioned it: "He [Lillard] doing a Tony Snell impersonation."
Overall, it was a rough outing for Lillard and the Bucks. However, it is important to note that Lillard is still adjusting to playing for the Bucks alongside the likes of former two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and company after spending 11 years as the face of the franchise for the Portland Trail Blazers.
In due time, these two will consistently remind us why they are arguably the NBA’s most talented duo.
