For Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell, it was not a day of blessing, as he could land in big trouble after his halftime social media activity.
The Eagles edged the Commanders 34-31 in overtime on Oct. 1 at Lincoln Financial Field, The Eagles swept the season series with the Commanders at FedEx Field.
Jalen Hurts threw four touchdowns, A.J Brown caught two, and Reed Blankenship’s interception changed the end of the game as Philadelphia came away victorious, 38-31.
In the tight win, RB Gainwell had the poorest contribution as he cost a fumble on the 3-yard-line that robbed Philadelphia of points.
Possibly his frustration of the fumble was reflected on social media, as he exchanged DM’s with a fan who texted on his Sunday play.
As per the post shared by the Instagram account “phibirdsrecap” and Crossing Broad, “phibirdsrecap” allegedly sent a direct message to Gainwell at 2:06 p.m. ET.
The text on the post reads that the fan refers to Gainwell’s fumble when the Eagles were in the red zone in the first quarter,
“Hold on to the football you f**** bum,”
According to the screenshot, Gainwell’s account allegedly replied at 2:28 p.m. during halftime when the Eagles were down 17-10,
“Lil boy, don’t text me”
With Phibirdsrecap account replying,
“Get off your phone”
Head coach Nick Sirianni said he’s not going to go away from Gainwell despite his slip-up, Gainwell’s halftime social media activity might land him in some legitimate trouble.
