In honor of LeBron James’ 21st season in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings decided to pay respects to “King James” and where it all began twenty years ago with the Los Angeles Lakers coming to town.
James made his NBA debut against the Kings in 2003, so they left a photo from that day accompanied by a bottle of wine in his locker to commemorate how far he’s come.
It’s a full-circle moment for James, who entered the league as one of the youngest players in the NBA and is currently the league’s oldest player. James has accomplished so much throughout his illustrious 20-year career and continues to show out in Year 21.
James has seen so many legends come and go, creating a legacy of his own in the process and paving the way for future generations. His body of work combined with what he is doing at 38 years old cannot be taken for granted and fans should appreciate his greatness while they still have it.
Father Time waits for no one, but James continues to turn back the clock with his vintage on-court performances.
On Sunday, it took overtime, but the Kings defeated the Lakers 132-127. Despite the Lakers taking an 11-point deficit into halftime, James fell just short of willing the team to comeback.
James made 11 of 19 shot attempts, scoring 27 points to go with 15 rebounds, and eight assists in 39 minutes of play.
Despite the loss, it is remarkable to see what James is doing on the basketball court at his age and continues to look like the same player who began his NBA career in Sacramento 20 years ago.
