“We were just hoping they would’ve come in here and put up a better fight than that” – Jaguars safety roasts Steelers’ miserable performance after ‘hope defense taunts’ backfires

The Jaguars defensive unit was in red hot form and took their frustration out on the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hardnosed 20-10 win.

The Jacksonville defense was not shy of reminding wide receiver George Pickens of every block, tackle and harry.

Last week, in the build-up to the game, Steelers wide receiver Pickens called their divisional rivals defense as one with hope at its core.

“Hope that the guys hold up long enough. Hope. It’s kind of a hope defense,” said Pickens, words he must be regretting today.

Jaguars safety Reshawn Jenkins believed the team had squarely put that little chirp behind them.

“When you give us bulletin board material like that, of course we’re going to come out and really show you how we play this game,” Jenkins told the team’s website.

With the Chiefs losing on the weekend to the Broncos, the Jacksonville team now boast the league leading longest winning streak of 5.

“We put a lot of work into this game and for someone to disrespect us like that, we took that personal. He’s a young guy and hopefully he learns to not bark up the wrong tree.

“Going back to that hope thing, man, like I keep telling everybody, we were just hoping they would’ve come in here and put up a better fight than that, you know?”

The Jaguars will be hoping for a deep playoff run, so we will not shelve the talk around hope just yet, especially if you are Jaguars fan.
