Giants great Carl Banks resigns from WFAN gig after hosts attacked him for lauding Kayvon Thibodeaux

New York Giants second-year edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has had an impressive season through the first eight weeks of the 2023 campaign thus far, or at least some people feel that way. Giants legend Carl Banks seems to agree based on his comments on WFAN660 and back-and-forth exchange with host Sal Licata, who kicked Banks off the show during the interaction.

Licata and fellow host Brandon Tierney labeled Thibodeaux as a “bust,” which Banks didn’t agree with. It got so heated between Licata and Banks that the former elected to cut off Banks’ airtime, which didn’t sit well with Banks. As a result, Banks decided to resign from his role at WFAN and will no longer be participating in weekly radio talk hosts who disrespected him.

According to author and sports journalist Gary Myers, Banks is a “Giants legend and two-time Super Bowl Champion who didn’t need the aggravation of getting into weekly talk radio arguments with hosts who treated him like a caller rather than a paid guest.”

A few days after this interaction, Thibodeaux had possibly the best game of his young career against the New York Jets. Thibodeaux had three sacks, three tackles for loss, and three quarterback hits in the Giants 13-10 loss to the Jets.

Whether Licata and Tierney agree with Banks’ stance or not, you cannot treat someone like that for feeling differently, especially someone who is regarded as a legend for the aforementioned franchise being discussed.

Regardless of anyone’s opinion, Thibodeaux is currently tied for third in the NFL in sacks (8.5). Not bad for a “bust.”
