Under the National Football League’s global market operation, the Chiefs have “commercial rights” in Bundesrepublik Deutschland, i.e., Germany. These are the same rights that they avail of at home as well.
According to AP News, such rights allow the Chiefs to inaugurate fan events, sign deal sponsorships, and further sell their products in foreign lands. Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, and Austria are included.
Regarding this, their star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, said, “It’s really cool just to be on this stage, the world stage, in Germany,”
“I’m excited to be able to play out here.”
Mark Donovan, the president of Kansa City Chiefs also expressed, “We feel like this is our era,”
“Based on the timing, the success and the stars, it’s a responsibility to take advantage of this. If we don’t aggressively take advantage of this, that’s a failure.”
The NFL is positively on the mission to extend the much-hyped sport of football to the global scene. They are also considering Spain and Brazil as their prospects.
Donovan further shares, “It can be looked at as maybe arrogant. I like to look at it as ambitious, but we want to be the world’s team,”
“We think the opportunity exists today for us to set a foothold that we are the world’s team, that people look at the Chiefs as an international representation of the NFL.”
“From our standpoint, we’re going to be aggressive in looking at additional markets, and we’re going to be aggressive in looking at additional games,”
“We think games are the best way to have that foothold activation.”
As per the president of the Chiefs, the NFL has also forwarded the positive data to the Chiefs regarding “revenue generated from international markets” and the Chiefs are second in the list of teams.
The Chiefs also won their game in Mexico in 2019 and in London as well. However, the Chiefs president, Mark Donovan, regarding their goal of garnering more global love and support, further said, “It’s a big, audacious goal,”
