The New Orleans Pelicans look to bounce back after Saturday’s loss as they take on the Denver Nuggets on Monday, Nov. 6 in Denver.

Pelican guard CJ McCollum will be sidelined for an extended period due to a small pneumothorax in his right lung as the team has just announced.

As per the reports, McCollum was diagnosed with a small collapsed right lung on Sunday. The Pelicans announced he will be re-evaluated in the next 48 hours to examine his recovery but undoubtedly he will miss time due to the issue.

Pelicans injury updates read that the guard McCollum has been diagnosed with a collapsed lung. The medical report confirms he underwent imaging indicating a “small pneumothorax” in his right lung.

The updates suggested McCollum will undergo additional testing in the next 48 hours to determine the following guidelines for the recovery process. On the other note as of now, it is unlikely to determine his return as there is no timeline for his return.

In all goodness, McCollum seems to be in good spirits after the diagnosis as he reposted on X, a post of him with his hand on his heart, it had the caption,

“This is an insane pic to post with the news”

Apparently, it is the second time in two years McCollum has been diagnosed with a collapsed lung. The 32-year-old also sustained a collapsed lung in December of 2021 and was forced to miss a month and a half.

This season with the Pelicans he averaged 21.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game–all while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from deep.
