“I’m going to control what I can control” – Patriots HC Bill Belichick on his worst start to a season in 23 years

The Patriots are essentially out the NFL playoff hunt after going down to the Commanders 20-17.

This season’s 2-7 record is Belichick’s worst start to a campaign since 2000.

23 years ago they recovered somewhat to finish 5-11 and Belichick is hoping to go better than that, and will now be focusing on the Colts in week 10.

Belichick told the Biston Globe’s Christopher Price, “I’m going to control what I can control and get ready for the Colts.”

The embattled coach, asked by Mike Weiss from ESPN, if this was the most frustrating season he’s had, he answered, “It’s probably up there, yeah. We just have to keep grinding away here and turn things around this week.”

The Patriots head coach was hammered by local media, demanding answers on whether he will be replaced by owner Robert Kraft.

The New England team sit bottom of the AFC East.

Belichick is an eight-time Superbowl winner and a 3-time AP NFL Coach of the Year.
