“It’s time for us to start returning the favor, man.” – Jets QB Zach Wilson on disappointing his defense after loss to the Chargers on MNF

The Jets offense only has themselves to blame after a listless performance in their 27-6 loss to the Chargers with quarterback Zach Wilson calling it “inexcusable”.

Wilson knew something was amiss with the misfiring offense on their second possession when wide receiver Garrett Wilson was stripped of the ball after the Jets were camping on the Chargers 37-yard line.

Prior to this loss the Jets were on a three-match win streak.

Wilson admitted after the game, “something is wrong” if players aren’t “angry” about the way the offense played.”

He did not have the greatest game himself throwing 263 yards with a 33-49 passing record.

“It’s inexcusable, man, and it’s getting to the point where it’s disappointing,” Wilson told Rich Cimini of ESPN.com.

With 49 chances to strike it is inconceivable the Jets only got the Sox points on the board as the Chargers improved to 4-4.

“I hate coming off the field, looking our defense in the eyes and knowing that we have to send them back out there after three-and-out. Them boys are my dogs and they come out and ball. They put us in a great position,” said a filthy Wilson.

“It’s time for us to start returning the favor, man. It’s time. We got to figure it out.”

They will have to figure out how to turn possession into points when they take on Raiders in week 10.
