The No. 2 ranked Michigan Wolverines and head coach Jim Harbaugh has been the center of attention in the college football realm of late. Not just for their performance on the field, but also for their involvement in a sign-stealing scandal. While many have expressed that they feel the NCAA is out to get Harbaugh and the Wolverines, College GameDay host Rece Davis has gone on the record to say that is a far-fetched and outlandish claim.
Davis appeared on The Paul Finebaum Show on Monday and was asked about the ongoing matter involving Harbaugh/Michigan and the alleged agenda against the head coach and his football program, and he didn’t mince words.
"Nobody is out to get him [Harbaugh]… he’s responsible for what goes on in his program. That’s just life," Davis told Finebaum.
Davis isn’t wrong. Whether Harbaugh likes it or not, Harbaugh is the face of the Wolverines football program. As the head coach of one of the NCAA’s most prestigious athletic programs in the nation, this is part of what comes with the territory.
"The idea that this is slanted in some way because we’re out to get Jim Harbaugh is ridiculous," Davis added.
While investigations remain ongoing, the Big Ten athletic directors and coaches have made it known they feel Harbaugh deserves to be punished for his potential involvement in the scandal. However, as the Big Ten continues its investigation, Harbaugh is expected to be on the sidelines this upcoming weekend when the Wolverines face the No. 9 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions.
