As reported by Bloomberg, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen is teaming up with the iconic Hard Rock International to transform a 50-acre parking lot adjacent to Citi Field
Cohen’s $8,000,000,000 investment will integrate sports betting and entertainment experiences.
His vision, aptly named Metropolitan Park, brings forth an exhilarating proposition that, if approved, promises to redefine the landscape of Queens.
The vision for Metropolitan Park extends beyond gambling.
It will encompass new athletic fields, a revamped mass-transit station, and a “Queens food hall” concept.
The goal is to create a unique blend of entertainment options for all.

Steve Cohen acquired the New York Mets in a historic $2.4 billion deal in 2020.
The purchase of the Mets marked the end of the Wilpon family’s remarkable 34-year stewardship of the franchise, and Cohen’s tenure has been marked by a series of high-profile player acquisitions.
Among his recent blockbuster moves, Cohen secured the services of pitching legend Justin Verlander for a stunning $43.3 million salary.
However, in August 2023, the team traded Verlander to the Houston Astros.
In addition to the Verlander signing, Cohen pursued star shortstop Carlos Correa, who ultimately signed a six-year, $200 million contract with the Minnesota Twins.
