NBA In-Season Tournament Viewership Exceeds Expectations, Showcasing Growing Popularity

The NBA In-season tournament was initially not expected to take off, but the fans’ reaction and now the viewership narrates different story altogether.

According to Front Office Sports and SportsTVRatings via Yardbarker, in the match between the Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Mavericks, the viewership averaged “1.76 million viewers”. The ESPN Network registered “1.644 million people” during the broadcast of the inaugural match between the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks.

According to Front Office Sports, “The debut of the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament averaged 1.7 million viewers on ESPN — up 35% from November 2022.”

The In-season tournament was much hyped around and despite the excitement and curiosity, initial ticket sales were bumped. The early viewership of the in-season tournament was not part of the customary opening of the regular season.

The in-season will conclude on December 9 and it could provide more value to the NBA as their media deal also approaches.
