With the 2023 NFL campaign officially reaching the midway point, NFL.com’s analysts released up-to-date predictions on who they think will earn some of the most esteemed individual awards the league has to offer at NFL Honors. Analysts such as David Carr, Michael F. Florio, Maurice Jones-Drew, and several others got to weigh in on the matter.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson earned 10 votes of the 27 possible votes for MVP, narrowly edging out Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes and Hurts each received seven votes.
Nearly half (13 of 27) of the participating NFL analysts predict that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill will win this year’s Offensive Player of the Year Award. Hill is currently pacing to break the single-season receiving record and has made a case to be the most valuable non-quarterback offensive player in the NFL.
The Defensive Player of the Year Award voting was a more lopsided result, with Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett compiling 16 of 27 possible votes. Garrett has been the driving force of a Browns defensive unit that strikes fear into the eyes of their opponents and would be a deserving winner of the award.
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was a near-unanimous vote for Offensive Rookie of the Year, earning 24 of 27 votes. He’s already helped the Texans win more games in nine weeks (four) than they did all of last season (three).
Defensive tackle Jalen Carter has been a menace for the Philadelphia Eagles’ interior defensive line, earning 18 of 27 possible votes for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin received 17 of 27 possible votes for the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year Award after overcoming a cardiac arrest episode in the middle of a game last season to make a full comeback and return to football. His story is nothing short of remarkable.
Last but not least, 16 of 27 NFL analysts voted for Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell to win Coach of the Year honors. He’s led the Lions to a 6-3 start to the season and put them in a position to win their first divisional title since 1993.
