When the NFL created their 2023 schedule during the offseason, they did not expect the primetime slates to be filled with such disastrous matchups. However, that’s why the games are played. Teams the NFL thought would be must-see television at this point in the season have not been as successful as they expected, making Week 10 a historically bad slate of games.
Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football matchup in Week 10 is a clash between the 2-7 Chicago Bears and the 1-7 Carolina Panthers. These have been arguably the two worst teams in the NFL through the first nine weeks of the season and are now kicking off our Week 10 slate. To make matters worse, Bears quarterback Justin Fields’ status is in jeopardy.
The next nationally televised game will be hosted by NFL Network when the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots travel to Frankfurt as part of the NFL’s International Series. In addition to the Panthers and Bears, the Patriots have a case to be made for being the worst team in the NFL. The Colts have been a scrappy team through nine weeks, but have lost their luster with backup quarterback Gardner Minshew under center.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football features a matchup between the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders. The Jets offense has been borderline unwatchable with quarterback Zach Wilson under center in place of the injured Aaron Rodgers and the Raiders are currently in the midst of organizational chaos after firing their head coach, general manager, and offensive coordinator.
Lastly, aging quarterback Russell Wilson and the hapless Denver Broncos defense travel to Buffalo to face the Bills on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The Bills enter this game favored by seven-and-a-half points, suggesting this could be a primetime blowout.
It would’ve been great to see the NFL decided to flex out one of these games for a better matchup such as the potential Super Bowl preview between the San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars.
