After trading two of their best defensive players before this year’s NFL trade deadline, Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera is satisfied with what he still has in the locker room. The Commanders traded defensive ends Montez Sweat and Chase Young to the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers respectively.

Now getting acclimated to his new teammates and defensive scheme, Young didn’t hesitate to take shots that seemed aimed at Rivera and the Commanders since arriving at the 49ers facility. "Just stepping in here today… the vibe is a lot different. I definitely know that I am in a building with winners," Young stated via NBC Sports Bay Area.

When Rivera was asked to give his thoughts on Young’s comments, he downplayed the matter, not seeming very concerned. "… to me as far as I’m concerned, I’m excited about our football team. I like the things that we’re doing," Rivera told reporters during his media availability. "I like the direction we’re headed. I think culturally it’s a really solid place," he added.

Instead of harping on Young’s comments, Rivera took it in stride and instead focused on the positives surrounding his team while wishing the former the best of luck with the 49ers. "As far as Chase [Young] is concerned and his comments, I really appreciate who he is for us and who he was for us. Did some nice things and just wish him all the luck in San Francisco," said Rivera.

Kudos to Rivera for focusing on only the things he can control, which are the players currently in his locker room instead of getting worked up over Young’s comments.
