The court conflict between former NFL star Michael Oher and the Tuohy family still continues.
The latest update in the case is claimed by the Tuohy family stating that they had paid Oher more than $138,000 from profits the film “The Blind Side” had made.
Oher has been recently been in the news regarding the conservatorship the Tuohy family has over him and illegally kept him in the dark.
However, his conservatorship was dismissed by the court.
The Tuohy family claim and according to ESPN their document said, “By agreement between the family members including Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, their children SJ and Collins as well as Michael Oher, the book and movie proceeds were to be split five ways,”
The “financial accounting” was given the heads up by the Shelby County probate court judge.
It further claimed that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy gave Oher the amount in 10 installments.
Moreover, the couple also claimed that instead of illegally taking finances of Oher without his knowledge the couple had “spent tens of thousands of dollars of their own money to support Mr. Oher during his high school and college years.”
The financial document also included tax form copies which showed that the Tuohy family was paid more than $432,000 by parties such as Twentieth Century Fox, Alcon Film Fund and Left Tackle Pictures between 2007 and 2021.
There is also a ledger in which shows that Tuohy made payments to Oher.
The payment as per ESPN was made to Oher in the account belonging to one of his children.
The movie “The Blind Side” had reportedly made over $300 million and its leading actress Sandra Bullock also received an Oscar for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy.
However, the story as beautiful as it was, was dragged into the mud when Oher filed a petition in August claiming the plot of the movie was based on a lie, and he further claimed that Tuohy family never truly adopted him.
He further claimed in the petition that the family deceived Oher into signing his conservatorship which gave the Tuohy’s legal authority over Oher.
