The Chargers season is looking far healthier after their week 9 win against the Jets and head coach Brandon Staley credits the defense for the turnaround.
The Chargers were on a spiral before back-to-back wins, and they have only conceded 19 points in the two games combined.
“We’ve done the things that winning defenses do, starting with the run game, and how you rush the quarterback, how you defend in the passing game, keeping the ball in front of you.
“Then, we’ve turned the football over,” explained the head coach.
With Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack fit and in rude form, the Chargers look supercharged.
They managed to hammer the Jets 27-6 despite quarterback Justin Herbert only throwing for 136 yards.
“I think that it’s getting closer. Probably, for us, we’ve been healthy, and we have the right combination of people out there,” Staley said Wednesday.
“That helps you, I think, play to your level. What I’ve seen, the last two weeks specifically, is just us playing with the right energy from the first whistle to the last one”.
The Chargers managed eight sacks on Zach Wilson and that pressure led to 4 touchdown drives, none further than 68 yards out.
Then LA team next takes on the 6-2 Detroit Lions.
