In Jefferson’s absence, the Minnesota Vikings’ had the best run of the 2023 NFL season, apparently pulling off four consecutive wins as it fights to return to the playoffs.
On Wednesday, for the first time since going on injured reserve, Jefferson returned to practice and shared an update on how he’s feeling speaking with reporters on Thursday.
He said,
“It’s a day-to-day. You can’t really put a date on it at this very moment. (The training staff) has been doing a phenomenal job with me. Making sure I’m feeling good. Making sure I’m getting the work that I need done, and the rehab and the treatment that I need.”
Jefferson also added,
“They want me 100 percent, as I do as well. I don’t want to go out there 80, 90 percent and have the chance of hurting it again. It’s just day-to-day and when that time comes I’ll definitely be ready to step out on that field.”
Kevin O’Connell, Vikings head coach, on Wednesday also weighs in on the recent Jefferson’s comments. He said it would “probably be a little aggressive” to think Jefferson could play against the Saints this weekend.
He also clarifies that what Jefferson said on Thursday does not suggest anything that he is targeting Sunday for his return to the offense.
The Vikings are at 5-4 with a game against the Saints on Sunday, and they have opened the 21-day practice window for Jefferson to return.
