The Texans prodigious quarterback CJ Stroud is nearing NFL history and is set to be the best rookie line caller of all time.
Stroud helped the Houston team to a tense 30-27 win over the favored Bengals on the weekend, throwing for 356 yards and conceding only his second interception all season.
If he can continue his fine form, he is set to overtake Andrew Luck’s rookie quarterback record season of 2012 (of 4,374 yards).
He is a near certainty to become the NFL Rookie of the Year and has an interception ratio of 0.63% which will smash Dak Prescott’s 2016 rookie season record of 0.87%.
He is also in with a chance to break Justin Herbert’s record of 31 touchdown passes and if he continues his trajectory, he should get close (28).
He was the second overall pick in the 2023 draft and the former Ohio State quarterback could even be considered the greatest rookie line caller of all time.
He already holds the NFL record for most yards in a game by a rookie (470) and has the most passing attempts (192) before conceding an interception.
The Texans move to second in the AFC South conference.
