Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce has shown his spurs for the game by unleashing wide receiver Davante Adams at the perfect opportunities in his team’s heart stopping 16-12 win over the Jets.
Pierce, who took over from the axes Josh McDaniels two weeks ago has sensationally led his team to back to back wins under his tenure.
When asked about his deployment of Adams he was bullish.
“The first couple plays were right to him. Get the ball in his hands, get him going. When you’ve got one of the best receivers in the game, I’m not stupid. I know who to get the ball to,” Pierce said.
Adams picked up 13 targets in the win, one more than the combined output of the rest of the team and was key to their success.
The comment may have been a dig at McDaniels, who never got the ball to Adams as much earlier in the campaign and Pierce has earned the right to be a bit boastful, taking the team to 5-5.
The Raiders will face a tough assignment away to the Dolphins next week.
