Amid the Michigan Wolverines Division I college football program being investigated regarding a sign-stealing scandal, the Big Ten conference has suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh for the remainder of the regular season, which forced him to miss the No. 3-ranked Wolverines’ game against the No. 10-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions.
Without Harbaugh, offensive coordinator Sherrone has been tasked with filling in as the team’s interim head coach and navigating them through the remainder of the regular season with their undefeated record and potential bid in the College Football Playoff at stake.
No Harbaugh, no problem. Moore and the Wolverines went into Beaver Stadium and defeated their conference rivals in front of their home crowd despite being without their head coach. After the game, Moore was emotional during his postgame interview to the point that he shed tears and dedicated the win to Harbaugh.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith made it clear during Molly Qerim’s First Take morning sports debate show that he is not happy with the way Moore reacted following Michigan’s win. “Here’s my issue, they’re acting like victims. How are you a victim? Who has victimized you?” Smith stated.
Smith has a point. The program is currently being investigated for sign-stealing, a form of cheating to get a leg up on the competition, and now they’re making it seem like they’re being vilified and victimized.
While Harbaugh’s involvement and/or lack thereof remain unclear, Smith thinks Moore and the Wolverines should not feel like they are the ones being wronged in this instance after being involved in a scandal that put them in this position in the first place.
