The NFL has suspended Denzel Perryman, a linebacker for the Houston Texans for three games for his unwarranted hit in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The fine has been issued in light of the NFL’s consideration of the players’ safety and health regulations.

According to Adam Schefter, “NFL announced TexansM LB Denzel Perryman has been suspended for three games for repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, including during this Sunda y’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.”

The three-game ban is while keeping in mind the consideration of “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players.”

In the letter stated to linebacker Perryman, Jon Runyan, NFL vice president of football operations revealing the cause of the unwarranted roughness wrote, “You lowered your head and delivered a forcible blow to the shoulder and then the head/neck area of the receiver. You had unobstructed path to your opponent and the illegal contact could have been avoided.”

On player safety, he stated further, “When players violate the rules intended to protect player safety on a repeated basis, and particularly when the violations carry with them a significant risk of injury to an opposing player, it is appropriate to impose substantially greater penalties,”

According to Pro Football Talk, the NFL vice president of football operations, Runyan, also wrote that Perryman has been fined six times in his NFL career for the same reason. In Week 2, he was also fined $66,666.

If the linebacker wants, he can challenge the suspension, and that would be handled by the NFL and the NFL Players Association-appointed hearing officers.
