The Tigers began the season as the number one team but suffered a loss in their season opener against Colorado.
This loss resulted in Colorado jumping from number 20 to number five in this week’s poll.
Despite this setback, LSU managed to bounce back with victories over Queens and Mississippi Valley State.
The team is working towards blending the talents of both returning players and newcomers to create a well-rounded and polished product on the court.
In the meantime, South Carolina has reclaimed the number one spot in the Top 25 poll, overtaking LSU in the process.
The Gamecocks have started their season with a strong 2-0 record, boasting dominant victories over preseason number 10, Notre Dame (100-71), and preseason number 14, Maryland (114-76).
This impressive performance has propelled South Carolina back to the top of the rankings.
The current top 10 in the AP poll includes South Carolina, Iowa, UCLA, Utah, Colorado, Stanford, LSU, UConn, Virginia Tech, and USC.
These teams have proven themselves to be formidable competitors early in the season.
Additionally, the poll ranks Texas at number 11, followed by Florida State, Ohio State, North Carolina State, and Tennessee.
LSU’s upcoming schedule includes a game against Kent State on Tuesday at 11 a.m., which is part of their annual field-trip game.
Following that, the Tigers will travel to Hammond, Louisiana to face Southeastern.
This game holds special significance as it will be Coach Kim Mulkey’s return to her hometown in Tangipahoa Parish.
