In the NBA bubble, 2020, the Clippers started the postseason strong with a fantastic collection of players and nearly made it to the conference finals.
On a recent episode of Trae Young’s From The Point podcast, Lou Williams, who played for the Clippers in 2020 shared why the Clip could not succeed in the bubble.
Lou Williams talking about his best chance to win was with the Clippers bubble team. He says, “We started to hear the rumblings that nobody is going to respect this chip so we kind of just took our foot off the gas”

According to Williams, the Clippers held back that season because they wanted the title to be significant.
The NBA suspended play in March 2020 forced by the pandemic and resumed in July with a new setup based in Walt Disney World, nicknamed “the bubble.”
Since the bubble season wasn’t under certain unusual conditions, fan started to spread that any team that might win the NBA Finals that year wasn’t really a champion.
Williams said on the podcast,
“The team just wasn’t built for the bubble. We didn’t really see a pot of gold at the end of it. We started to hear the rumblings that nobody is going to respect this chip, so we kind of just took our foot off the gas”.
Williams comments were basically an insight into the Clippers 2020 NBA season Playoffs, where they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals despite having a 3-1 series lead.
