It’s not only fiercely contested on the fields of college football every week, but just as much so in the pre match television broadcasts.
FOX’s Big Noon Kick-off was expected to take down College Game Day, but in a tightly contested affair it was the latter who walked away with the spoils.
Pre-Saturday pundits had FOX tipped to win the most viewers, especially as it was calling the Michigan Wolverines game, and carried the news of whether head coach Jim Harbaugh would be suspended ahead of the Penn State game.
The second ranked Wolverines defeated 12th ranked Penn State 24-15 in a highly charged game.
The match had good numbers peaking at 11.2 million viewers and averaged 9.16 million, the network’s second most watched game of the season.
ESPN still took the honors despite a hosting the Alabama vs Kentucky match.
Game Day saw an average of 2.76 million viewers on Saturday while BNK averaged 1.4 million.
FOX has offered some interesting match ups this season with the likes of the Colorado Boulder hype early in the season and then the Buffaloes vs Colorado match up.
To be fair, not many pundits expected Big Noon Kick-off to seriously challenge GameDay, but it did have its moments.
