In his first game of the 2023 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in 2022, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray impressed mightily. Murray credits the pressure surrounding his highly-anticipated return as a reason for his inspiring start to the season, leading the Cardinals to their second win.

“You’re never really comfortable. Great players understand when you are always on edge, whatever zone you’re in you’re trying to stay in it however you get in it as long as possible,” Murray said via the team’s official website.

Murray certainly got in his zone in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons, leading a game-winning drive in the latter stages of the fourth quarter. He completed 19 of his 29 pass attempts for 249 scoreless yards and an interception, adding six carries for 33 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Despite being Murray’s first game of the season, rookie offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. said he already feels comfortable playing alongside Murray. “I think it was awesome flow even though it’s our first week together,” Johnson said. “I think it really felt natural,” he added.

Murray, Johnson, and the Cardinals will have the rest of the season to continue developing their chemistry and getting a feel for one another. Up next for Murray and the Cardinals in Week 11 is a matchup against the Houston Texans, led by rookie quarterback CJ Stroud, who has been nothing short of remarkable in his first nine games in the NFL.
