New England Patriots CB, Jack Jones, has been waived, and the Las Vegas Raiders have acquired him.
The cornerback played in the game against the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Patriots lost that game to the Colts and the concluding score was 6-10. The Patriots squad is currently not having a prosperous season, as they currently stand at 2-8.
The clock is certainly ticking for the Patriots and one of the changes they have made since coming back from Germany is trading their cornerback, Jack Jones.
On returning to the homeland, the cornerback was waived.
According to the NFL, Jones was waived on Monday and Tuesday, the Raiders added him to their squad. The cornerback reached Vegas on Wednesday and shed light on his journey.
With saddened surprise, his acknowledgement of the situation was rendered. Nevertheless, the player also expressed his enthusiasm for moving forward and for a novel start.
According to NFL, via ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, the cornerback, shared, “I would say it wasn’t the best fit,”
“I can’t really speak too much about it, just because I’m not on the coaching staff. I can’t call it. Just wasn’t the best fit, but I’m glad to be here.”
Jones is looking ahead and wants to help the Raiders. In 2022, as a rookie, Jones was able to mesh with the Patriots; unfortunately, in 2023, the cornerback faced issues. His release came with a blow for the cornerback.
He further shares, “That was the team that drafted me, that gave me an opportunity,”
“When you get drafted, it’s your mindset you’re going to spend the next four years there, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I’m blessed to be here now.”
Jones had started his career with the Patriots and played with them for one and a half years. However, in this short period, Jones knew interim head coach Antonio Pierce of the Raiders.
Jones played under Pierce as he was an assistant coach at Arizona State and his head coach at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. They both knew each other a long time ago.
The interim head coach of the Raiders, Pierce, believes that Jones will be able to provide edge and depth at the back end zone. He also appreciates his skill in making plays on the ball.
Regarding Jones, Pierce shares, “Kid’s been through a lot,”
“I’ve known him since he’s very young, obviously. It’s been documented. I’ve seen the growth, the development. Nobody’s perfect. I don’t expect to be perfect. That’s my job, as well, to bring him along and our staff and our organization to help him if he needs be. The football player’s extremely gifted and I expect him to do such when he gets here.”
As a rookie, Jones had started thirteen games, including two interceptions, one touchdown, and 30 tackles. His off-field issues have also taken precedence and attention. However, the cornerback is motivated to achieve the best for himself and his new team.
