“If I could have done more, if this offense could have done more, we wouldn’t have had to do something like that” Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen Takes Personal Responsibility for Offensive Coordinator’s Departure

Surprise or not, Josh Allen feels responsible for the departure of Brian Daboll, his former offensive coordinator.

“Without a doubt, and I take that very personally,” Allen told reporters on Wednesday, explaining his belief Dorsey would still be on staff if Allen had played better, via NewYorkUpstate.com. “It hurts a lot to see someone you care about go through a situation like that and to know that if I could have done more, if this offense could have done more, we wouldn’t have had to do something like that.”

The Buffalo Bills have failed to live up to expectations for most of the season, except for a few games where they have shown offensive brilliance.

However, Allen has struggled to replicate his previous performances, leading the league in interceptions and turnovers.

His carelessness with the ball has cost the team some crucial wins, including their recent loss to the Denver Broncos.

After games, Allen has often appeared defeated and frustrated, struggling to explain what went wrong. But upon reflection, Allen admitted that he knows where the problem lies, and it’s not a surprise.

“Turnover-wise it’s abysmal when we lose and there’s no secret to that,” Allen said. “We’re not a broken offense, we’re not a broken team. But the splits compared to when we win and when we lose (with turnovers) are massive. Again, that’s on my shoulders. We’ve got to be better; I’ve got to be better.”

Although he has shown moments of greatness in 2023, such as victories against the Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders, and Miami Dolphins, the Bills have struggled to regain their offensive firepower.

Additionally, injuries to key defenders Tre’Davious White and Matt Milano have weakened their defense, resulting in average performances lately.

Firing Daboll might have seemed like the right decision, but it’s not a guaranteed solution to their problems.

Ultimately, it boils down to Allen’s performance. The team’s success is directly tied to how well he plays and protects the football. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to do that consistently in recent times.

However, Allen’s teammates have not lost faith in their quarterback, who is also the cover athlete of the latest Madden NFL game.

They believe he will rediscover his magic. With a record of 5-5, the Bills need to address their issues swiftly before it’s too late.

They are hopeful that Allen can rectify his mistakes and return to his top form soon.
