49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has fond memories of the rivalry between himself and Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield.
The rivalry kicked off back in 2017 when Mayfield’s Oklahoma Sooners took down the Ohio Buckeyes 31-16.
Mayfield took Oklahoma’s flag and majestically waved it over the Ohio logo on the halfway line.
Then in 2019, in his rookie season, Bosa took revenge in their week 5 encounter sacking Mayfield on the way to a blowout win. Doing the flag impersonation was a bit of comedic justice.
“It was fun,” Bosa told reporters on Wednesday, via The Athletic, ahead of Sunday’s game between San Francisco and Tampa Bay. “My celebrations as a rookie were pretty good.”
Bosa will be looking to help the 49ers to back-to-back wins and get their campaign firmly back on track.
