The week before his historic 1997 Masters victory, Tiger Woods considers the best round of his life to be a casual but competitive round played at his home course, Isleworth Country Club in Windermere, Fla. Six days before his first Masters appearance as a professional, Woods played against close friend and mentor Mark O’Meara, who was ranked higher at World No. 8.
Despite being a professional for less than a year, Woods had already secured three tour wins and risen to World No. 14. Over two days, Woods showcased his dominance, shooting an incredible 13-under 59. This round included a par on a hole where he had an iron shot, and interestingly, it remains the only time Woods has posted golf’s magic number.
A week before he won his first Masters, Tiger played "the best round no one saw" and forced Mark O’Meara to walk off the course. 😂

Despite the distraction of witnessing the space shuttle launch during the round, Woods showcased his exceptional skills. O’Meara, overwhelmed by Woods" performance, humorously quit playing with him the next day after Woods made a hole-in-one. This remarkable round set the stage for Woods’ historic 1997 Masters victory, solidifying his status as one of golf"s greatest players.
