After a brutal 1-5 start to the season, the Denver Broncos have looked rejuvenated in recent weeks, rattling off four straight wins. Last night, on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton caught what ended up being the game-winning touchdown with just over a minute left in the game. Sutton knew he had to make a play with the game on the line.
“Once I saw it coming, I knew I was like, ‘I can’t wait for this to come down,’” said Sutton according to the Broncos official website. “I knew there were defenders around us, so I had to go and make a play… I looked up and saw the ball finding me,” Sutton added.
Any time the Broncos and quarterback Russell Wilson need to score the ball finds its way to Sutton. He has become the team’s go-to scoring option on offense, recording a career-high eight touchdowns through 10 games in 2023. Sutton has scored a touchdown in all but two of the Broncos games this season, further highlighting his impact on the Broncos offense.
Sutton finished the game with 66 receiving yards and the aforementioned touchdown, hauling in four of his five targets.
At 5-5, the Broncos now find themselves firmly in the mix of the AFC playoff picture, trailing the Pittsburgh Steelers by just one game for the third and final Wild Card spot. Sutton and the Broncos will have a chance to extend their winning streak and have a winning record for the first time all season when they face the Cleveland Browns in Week 12.
