MLB’s efforts to expand its global fanbase face a setback as regular-season games in Paris are cancelled

The Major Baseball League is pushing its effort to establish an international fan base; however, some of their plans have taken a hit as their Paris game series has been cancelled due to some reasons.

According to Front Office Sports via the Associated Press, the underlying reason for its cancellation is “financial and logistical issues”. The two-game series was set to be played in the 2025 season.

The games that are to be played in France were approved; however, unfortunately, the league has been facing the problem of finding a “local promoter” and some of the concerns were of a financial nature as well.

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are the teams that have expressed interest in playing in Paris. In 2019, they also played in the inaugural London Series games.

Other major leagues such as NBA, NFL, and NHA, have played in Europe however, only MLB has not yet played in the continent. The 2024 MLB season will commence in Seoul Japan, and the other two countries which will see MLB are Mexico City and London.

The Dominican Republic will also see Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays spring training as well.
