After a successful 12-year NBA playing career that saw Jeff Teague become a one-time All-Star as a member of the Atlanta Hawks and 2021 NBA Champion as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, Teague began a podcast series known as the Club 520 Podcast to talk about his experiences in the NBA. A story from the 2016 playoffs involving Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was recently discussed during Teague"s podcast.
In 2016, when Teague was with the Hawks, they faced James’ Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Cavaliers were up double-digits late in Game 3 of the series and just seconds away from taking a 3-0 series lead, virtually ending the series. James was bringing the ball up the court and evading Hawks defenders in an attempt to dribble out the clock, but Teague shoved James out of bounds and into the stands.
On the podcast, Teague said the frustration of losing to James repeatedly mounted to the point where he decided to shove him when he saw the opportunity.
"We was losing, sh*t I’m a sore loser. I ain’t win a playoff game against that […], ever. I was sick of this sh*t," Teague said.
While the shove on James was aggressive and unnecessary, it is easy to see why Teague was frustrated. James has had the Hawks’ number throughout his career, especially in the playoffs. He has a 12-0 record against the Hawks in the playoffs, and Teague was a part of a majority of those games.
