While some may prefer a longer layoff after having one of their worst performances in recent memory, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is happy about the short turnaround and eager to get back on the field with the hopes of putting last week’s brutal three-interception performance against the Chicago Bears behind him.
The Lions are hosting the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving after playing against the Bears this past Sunday, giving them just a few days between games. Goff views this as a good thing and is looking forward to getting an opportunity to redeem himself so quickly.
“It does help to be able to play so quickly now and be able to hopefully go into the weekend with, obviously a win, but a good taste in your mouth for how you played as well,” Goff said, per Justin Rogers of the Detroit News.
Despite the three-interception day from Goff in Week 11, the Lions overcame a double-digit deficit and escaped with a 31-26 victory to improve their record to 8-2. While Goff struggled throughout the game, he stepped up when his team needed it most, leading two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter.
Goff knows he needs to be better moving forward if the Lions want to continue to win games and his next opportunity to do so will come as soon as this Thursday against the Packers.
