NBC Golf Analyst Paul Azinger Won’t return Following Contract Negotiations, NBC to Feature Curt Byrum at Upcoming Events

The NBC lead analyst of golf, Paul Azinger, will not be coming back to resume his position as he and NBC were not able to reach a mutual agreement.

According to the Associated Press, Azinger was looking to work for one more year, but both parties had failed to solidify a mutual agreement. The NBA’s cost-cutting negotiations could not retain the lead analyst.

NBC will be having two upcoming golf events; one of them will be the Hero World Challenge conducted in the Bahamas. This event will also mark Woods’ comeback. Another one will be the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida. In this event, Woods will be playing alongside his son.

According to Awful Announcing, Azinger’s longtime agent, Rich Braund shared, “With the golf and media landscapes now in a more challenging environment, Azinger and NBC will part ways as their current contract ends,”

Besides, the cost cut, Brandt Packer, who produced PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions, college, and other beginner events was also let go by the network, NBC.

Other names which are coming to the forefront are Brad Faxon, Brandel Chamblee, Geoff Ogilvy, who is a former U.S. Champion, and Paul McGinley, former Ryder Cup captain.

In Azinger’s place, Curt Byrum will be the lead analyst at the Hero World Challenge, hosted by Tiger Woods, next week.
