Joe Madden and turkey go hand in hand together with Thanksgiving with the legendary commentator calling 21 holiday games over the years.
His voice became the apple pie, the mustard, the mint sauce piece de resistance of every Thanksgiving in every football loving home in America.
The annual “Turkey Leg” Award and the Turducken were Madden inspired.
NFL analyst and former league coach Steve Mariucci summed it up best by saying, “With the inception of the yearly John Madden Thanksgiving celebration, the day will not only pay tribute to an icon in our game, but an exemplary person who lived the greatest values of Thanksgiving throughout the course of his life. There was nobody like John Madden, and we are proud to honor his memory and legacy on his favorite day of the year.”
Madden was a legendary coach in his own right winning the Superbowl with the Oakland Raiders, after leading the team to seven divisional titles and seven AFL/AFC titles appearances.
Who can forget Madden the PlayStation and Xbox game, a must have in every home, whether for kid or grandparent.
