The Patriots are stumbling from one game to the next but between coach Bill Belichick says he feels as excited as ever despite what must be overwhelming pressure from above.
The multiple Superbowl winner is 71 years old, and the Patriots are struggling this season, going at 2-9 and fresh off a chastening defeat to the New York Giants.
“Every week’s a challenge and I’m excited about the challenge, the opportunity, and what we have to do to win each week. I’ll keep working as hard as I can to help our team,” Belichick said.
The coach may have gravitas and experience but owner Robert Kraft is no sentimentalist.
There is no room for that emotion in professional football.
New England will next tale on the desperate Chargers in a gane which could be Belichick’s last. An ignominious end to a brilliant career, but we all have to end somewhere even if it is ot on our own terms.
