The Raiders team is familiar with players facing legal issues and in the latest case safety Teamer was arrested and charged with DUI.
Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce also confirms that Teamer, who was arrested on DUI charges, has been released by the club.
The update on Teamer waivers was released two days after he was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding. He was inactive for Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Pierce said in his weekly news conference Monday,
“Yeah, it’s always difficult when you have to release a player. That conversation, I don’t look forward to. Hate it. Hate it. It’s not good. It’s not a good feeling.”
On Monday, Marcus Peters defensive back for the Raiders also departed from the team who is also a two-time first-team All-Pro.
Teamer only undertook six contests in 2023 and last played on October 15th. Henry Ruggs and Damon Arnette both faced serious legal problems and Ruggs pleaded guilty in August to killing a woman and her dog while driving under the influence.
Shedding light on Teamer’s arrest, he was on his way to the team hotel, when he was charged with DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance and a basic speeding violation — 21-30 miles per hour over posted speed limit.
He also served an NFL-mandated four-game suspension in 2020 for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Pierce extended a message to the team was “just making smart decisions” in the wake of Teamer being waived.
