American football is no longer just a sport; it’s a huge phenomenon and a prime choice for many around the world to indulge on Thanksgiving Day.

The National Football League (NFL) comfirmed another record-breaking victory for the second straight year, with average Thanksgiving Day viewership hitting a whopping 34.1 million on both TV and digital platforms.

The figures show a 1.5% increase from the previous season, outpacing its former 33.6 million view average.

The game that ruled the day was the late afternoon match-up between the Washington Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys.

With a massive 41.8 million tuning in, it claimed the record as the second most-watched regular-season game on record.

Only last year’s Thanksgiving Day game which saw the Cowboys compete against the New York Giants took the trophy home with 42.06 million viewers.

Equally record-setting was the early Thanksgiving Day game that witnessed an encounter between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.

This match attracted an average of 33.7 million viewers, making it the highest early Thanksgiving game viewership statistic on record, watched through the widely popular Fox Network.

NBC’s primetime game was not to be left behind in these escalating numbers.

The captivating match between San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks enjoyed an average viewership of 26.9 million, marking it as the highest audience for Thanksgiving night games in the previous eight years.

Just when you thought the viewing figures couldn’t get any more impressive, the first-ever Black Friday game took to the field.

The eagerly anticipated showdown was between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets, insightful figures from which are expected to be unveiled on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday.
