Four-time NFL MVP Award winner and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is attempting to make an improbable return from a torn Achilles he suffered just four snaps into the 2023 regular season. 79 days later and Rodgers is already back on the practice field. Jets quarterback Tim Boyle and the rest of the team are happy to see him back and amazed at what they’re seeing.
"It’s nice having Aaron [Rodgers] back," Boyle said, per the team’s official website. "Like the quarterbacks were saying, Aaron hasn’t skipped a beat," Boyle added.
Rodgers returning to action this quickly and also looking like his former self at practice is nothing short of miraculous for an injury as severe as a torn Achilles. Sitting at 4-7, the Jets have been struggling of late and Rodgers’ return to the practice field could provide a nice spark to a team desperately in need of one.
"You could tell his presence was missed, but today it was the same happy and joking individual who brings a lot of wisdom and energy to this offense," Boyle added.
It is important to note that even though Rodgers returned to practice, it doesn’t mean he will necessarily be playing in a game this season. The Jets opened his 21-day practice window yesterday, meaning there is no rush to activate him from injured reserve. Rodgers has said the team’s ability to compete for a playoff spot will also weigh into his decision to return.
If the Jets can win a game or two over the next couple of weeks, Rodgers will have a shot to return to NFL action just four months after tearing his Achilles.
