Sitting and 6-5 and currently holding the third and final Wild Card spot in the AFC’s playoff picture, the Indianapolis Colts will be without All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor for multiple weeks after he suffered a thumb injury during the team’s Week 13 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that requires surgery. Running back Zack Moss will fill in and he’s ready for it.
Moss is currently ranked 10th in the NFL in rushing yards (672) after operating as the team’s workhorse running back during the first half of the season when Taylor was dealing with an ankle injury. As a result, Moss feels as though he is ready to reclaim the role he had earlier in the season and feels as though that experience has prepared him for this moment.
“I’ve already kind of done it before,” Moss said via the team’s official website. “Now’s the time to do it again,” he added.
From Week 2-5, Moss handled no less than 18 carries per game, seeing as many as 30 in the Colts’ Week 3 win over the Baltimore Ravens. In that span, he ran for no less than 70 yards, eclipsing 100 yards from scrimmage in three of four contests.
The Colts are eyeing a spot in the AFC playoffs and will rely heavily on Moss to fill the void left by Taylor. Moss is ready for the challenge and prepared to do what he needs to do to ensure the Colts rushing attack stays on track.
