Jason Kelce believes Bills’ Jordan Phillips should be suspended and fined for tackle on teammate

The Buffalo Bills left Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles angry over several uncalled penalties, but Eagles center Jason Kelce wants to see even more punishment for one play that did draw a flag on the Bills.

With the Eagles lined up for an apparent quarterback sneak on a fourth-and-1 play, Bills" defensive tackle Jordan Phillips jumped early and crashed into Eagles guard Cam Jurgens, knocking him over.

Speaking about the play, Kelce said teams are crossing the line trying to stop the “tush push" and wants to see Phillips fined for intentionally trying to hurt Jurgens.

“Teams are really trying to stop that play,"

Kelce said.

Though the Bills were flagged for offsides, and the Eagles converted a first down, Kelce said he believes it should have been a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness.

Bills reporter Joe Marino shared a video on X that appeared to show Kelce flinch before snapping the ball, which would have made it a false start rather than offside on Phillips.

On a fourth-and-1 on Sunday, as the Eagles lined up for their tush push quarterback sneak, Bills" defensive tackle Jordan Phillips blew up the play before the ball was snapped, plowing into Eagles guard Cam Jurgens and knocking him to the ground.

Phillips was flagged for jumping offside, but Eagles center Jason Kelce said Phillips got off easy.

Kelce said on WIP that Phillips was deliberately taking a cheap shot at Jurgens, and the NFL should fine him.

“I thought that play in particular was absolutely a disgrace that the NFL should not allow,"

Kelce said.

Kelce believes opposing defenses are focusing on being extra physical to stop the tush push, and that in Phillips" case, he crossed the line.

Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips buried Eagles" lineman Cam Jurgens after jumping offsides during Sunday"s game, earning the ire of many Eagles fans — and players.

On fourth-and-1, with the Birds lined up to attempt the Brotherly Shove, Phillips continued to follow through on Jurgens despite his early jump, which Eagles center Jason Kelce thought was a dirty play, he said Wednesday on the 94WIP Morning Show.

“Teams are really trying to stop that play,"

Kelce said on the show.

“He made zero effort to stop after he jumped offsides. ‘He purposely tried to hurt Cam Jurgens. I thought it should have been a personal foul and I think he should be fined for that play."

Jurgens was not injured and remained in the game, and Phillips was not penalized for the play outside of his jump offsides, which granted the Eagles 5 yards and a first down.

The NFL announces player fines for on-field conduct on Saturday afternoons the week after the game, so any supplemental discipline Phillips could receive for that play will be announced this weekend.

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips drew some criticism for the way he went after a Philadelphia Eagles fan during Sunday’s game, but it was what Phillips did on the field of play that infuriated Jason Kelce.

Kelce thought the play where Phillips jumped offsides was a “disgrace." The veteran center told the WIP Morning Show on Tuesday that he felt Phillips was intentionally trying to injure Jurgens.

Kelce later took to X to share some more of his thoughts on the play.

Kelce noted he was only going to comment on the play involving Jurgens, but not the rest of the game.

Phillips and Shaq Lawson were involved in an interaction with Eagles fans after the game ended.

“I don"t know Jordan Phillips, who might be the best guy in the world,"

Kelce said.

Phillips moved before the ball was snapped, and he knocked Eagles guard Cam Jurgens to the ground. But Kelce was still upset about the play and said Phillips

“purposefully tried to hurt Cam Jurgens"

and should be fined.

“I think the one play was a quarterback sneak,"

Kelce said.

"He purposefully, he purposefully tried to hurt Cam Jurgens."

“I thought it should have been a personal foul, and I think he should be fined for that. But I thought that play, in particular, was absolutely a disgrace that the NFL should not allow, I really do."

In a video posted late Sunday night on social media, Phillips was seen confronting an Eagles fan in the front row behind the Bills" bench, and he and defensive end Shaq Lawson said they heard threats against themselves and their families. Lawson is seen making contact with the fan.

Perhaps the biggest one is the feud caught on video between Eagles fans and several Bills players, including defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

Phillips was involved in several incidents during the game, including taking Eagles guard Cam Jurgens down to the ground when Phillips jumped offside on what was likely a “Tush Push" attempt from Philly.

Kelce did not comment on Phillips" interaction with the fans and acknowledged that he doesn’t know the Bills veteran personally.

“I have zero issue with players jumping offsides and making contact with offensive linemen on that play,"

Kelce said on X (formerly Twitter).

Jason Kelce on the second play in this video, where Jordan Phillips goes after Cam Jurgens:

“I thought it was bull s**t at the time…He purposely tried to hurt Cam Jurgens…I think he should be fined for that play."

Kelce said he didn"t know what happened with Phillips and the fan, but that the NFL absolutely needs to discipline him for attempting to hurt Jurgens.

Fans had a lot to express:
