Luis Severino has now spend eight years with the New York Yankees where he had back-to-back All-Star nods in 2017-18.

On Wednesday, the right hander Severino has been reported to signed a one year contract worth $13 million with the New York Mets.

ESPN sources reveals sending the longtime Yankee to a Mets team is a plan to spend its winter upgrading a depleted rotation.

The 29 year old, had spend his eight-year career with the Yankees, including a rough 2023 in which he posted a 6.65 ERA over 89 innings.

The free agent market was able to set the price of the veteran at $10 million-plus a year, Severino’s past success bought him slightly more.

The deal, which is physical signing is awaited on Thursday, also includes $2 million in performance bonuses and allows Severino to reach free agency after the season.

The deal is to be considerate as one of many steps to rebuild a Mets rotation that lost Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer to trades in July and, beyond Kodai Senga and Jose Quintana, has serious questions.

The Mets will also strongly bid for Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the 25-year-old right-hander from Japan, whose deal is expected to be the second-highest of the winter.

In other steps they also pursuing left-hander Jordan Montgomery, who will get well in excess of $100 million guaranteed. The Mets have been on the target of the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes as well.

As the Mets are trying to fill several holes in their rotation under new president of baseball operations David Stearns, they’re hoping Severino deal can regain the form.
